FEBRUARY 2007

Thank You for signing up for our e-mail newsletter. For those of you who don't know me my name is Brian Bauman and I'm thrilled that you have taken an interest in our farm.  For the past couple of years we have looked for a way to provide timely information to our customers. Everything from when the hanging baskets are looking their best to when the first peaches arrive. We hope this letter will allow us to keep you up to date on what's happening.  If there is anything that you would like to see added or some suggestions on what could be done differently in the letter please reply via e-mail or give me a call. Thank you again and we look forward to seeing you soon.

The winter months are always the time of the year when we try and catch our breath and get ready for spring. However, this year there has been very little time to relax, instead we are moving full steam ahead. We are very excited about the many things happening on the farm right now! Bauman's Farm and Garden will be participating again this year in the Yard Garden and Patio Show and will try and repeat their 2006 Best in Show Performance. The store is under construction as we try and expand our retail sales area. The guys are busy out back under Jeremiah's direction planting hanging baskets, which means now is the time to get in your custom order. Finally, all of our roses, blueberry plants, and many other winter flowers and shrubs arrive next week to fill the greenhouses.

Last year was our first year at the Yard Garden and Patio Show at the Convention Center and we are very excited about having a booth again there this year. Here is a link to the Yard Garden & Patio Show website that has a two dollar coupon off show admission coupon. (Discount Coupon) The Home and Garden Show will also be going on this same weekend at the Expo center and Bauman's will not be there, instead we are at the convention center. This is a picture of the rooster planter that we created for the First Annual Plant Fashion show, which Bauman's Farm and Garden took first place. Come this year to see what we have entered for the show. All of the containers will be on display throughout the show for the public to vote for their favorite. We would love for you to come to show and see our booth, which will be even bigger and better than last year and help us out by placing a vote for the containers that we have entered in the show. See you there!

As many of you know, we experimented this fall by moving our check out counters out into the greenhouse next to the store. This move was a huge success for us because it really opened up the store and allowed for a more relaxed shopping atmosphere. However, once it started getting cold outside we had to move the counters back inside. We knew that it would be much too hot in the greenhouse during the summer to leave them there. In order to correct these problems we decided to take out the wall between the greenhouse and the barn and put up a new wall in between greenhouse #1 and #2 and insulate and enclose all the remaining walls. I know it's a little hard to get a picture how all this is going to turn out, but the progress has been amazing and we are very happy with the results thus far. By the end of the month it should be finished and in the end we will have double our indoor retail selling space. Please come by and check out the progress and let us know what you think.

January 1st is always the signal of the start of a new growing season for the greenhouse industry and Bauman's Farm and Garden has been very busy this year preparing for the coming spring. Jeremiah has been extremely busy out back planting thousands of hanging baskets. We have come up with some very exciting new combinations for our hanging baskets and we are growing some of the newest and most exciting plants on the market. Bauman's grows a wide range of plants from a company called Proven Winners. Their website is http://www.provenwinners.com/ and there is a portion on their website that is devoted to consumers so that you can get information any time you want about the plants that you buy with their logo. Bauman's has secured many of their new hard to get plants including Supertunia Cotton Candy, which for the most part will be unavailable on the West Coast, but you can find it at Bauman's. Now is a great time to come in and see us and order your hanging baskets just they way you want them, which can be picked up later this spring.

All of our roses are arriving at the farm and one of the hottest roses this year will be the Pope John Paul II commemorative rose. Bauman's has a limited supply of this rose because there were not very many available this year. We would suggest getting it early. It is a beautiful white rose that has an outstanding fragrance and is a great addition to any garden. In addition to the roses we are also getting in blue berry plants right now. We carry a great selection of blueberry plants in a number of different sizes and at a great price. Our large 2 gallon blueberries are only $9.95 each.

I tried to keep the newsletter as short as possible but there is so many things going on it was hard to stop typing. As a special thank you for participating in our newsletter we would like to offer you a free bag of apple cider donuts (bag of six) for every time that you spend more than twenty dollars during the month of February. Thank you so much for your support and we look forward to seeing you soon on the farm.

If you received this newsletter by mistake, your in luck because we got some great things to see but if you would like to be removed from the list please respond with the subject line "please remove" and we would be happy to take care of it.
