April 2010
Greenhouse gallery
Hanging baskets
Local
Hi there everyone, spring has come up so fast it seems this year! So many things are changing every day around here that we can’t seem to pack all of the new things into our monthly newsletter. So we have decided to double it up! We are now going to be sending out our newsletter twice a month through the busiest times to make sure that we keep you up to date!
One of our favorite things about spring is our annual Greenhouse Gallery Art Show. This year will be our 3rd year holding the event. The Show will open tomorrow morning April 24th at 9am and will be open until 5pm and again from 9-5 on Sunday! That’s right; we are going to be open on Sunday! We plan to start the mornings off right, with mimosas and fresh baked goodies! As you sip your mimosa you can stroll through the greenhouse and see the fantastic work of many local artists, from photography and paintings to metalwork and garden art. There is sure to be something for everyone to love! During the afternoons we will have wine tasting that will be provided by St. Joseph’s, Vitis Ridge, and Honeywood Wineries. If you need a little something more to snack on we will have salads and fresh cut fruit bowls available in the coffee shop along with some great art show drink specials!
Similar to last year’s show, we will be donating 5% of all sales to the Linda L. Vladyka Breast Wellness Foundation to help support the research and promotion of new examination techniques. On top of that 5% this year we will also be having a silent auction to benefit the Foundation, each artist has donated an item to the auction and 100% of the proceeds will go to aid the Foundation.

Tomorrow will also be the first day of rubber ducks sales for our Wish Upon A Falling Pumpkin event in October to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation Of Oregon; which is also the kick off of our Giant Pumpkin plant sales. Hard to believe it's that time again but sure enough… it is! Last year we had over 100 pumpkins entered into the Giant Pumpkin Weigh Off and this year we want even MORE! Never grown a giant pumpkin before?? That’s ok! We have a special division just for rookie growers, and we are always available to help with any questions that you have. We have even set up a Facebook page to help with Giant Pumpkin Questions.

Any idea what else we have this weekend??? Hanging baskets! During the past week we have been bringing up load after load of beautiful baskets. We believe that we are beyond the threat of a frost and that now is a fantastic time to come in and pick out your hanging baskets for this year. They are at a very manageable size right now and are easier to get into your car to get them home, now is also the time to pick and choose from the widest selection; every combination that we plant is available now! Not only are hanging baskets here but 4” petunias, verbena, geraniums, bacopa, fuchsias, tomatoes, & peppers along with 6 packs of vegetable starts including broccoli, cauliflower, zucchini, lettuce, and cucumbers have all been brought up and are big and beautiful and ready to be planted in your garden.

While you are here checking out the Art Show and all of the fantastic plants in the greenhouses make sure that you stop into the fruit stand and check out the first batch of LOCAL asparagus! The first load of local asparagus is another great sign that spring is here. The asparagus is long, slender, and full of flavor and it officially begins the season of local produce.
We hope to see you all this weekend!
